​Be the Greater Good - For seniors who may be undecided about their plans after high school
​
This national service program (federal) is dedicated to building young leaders, serving disadvantaged communities, increasing job skills, and providing opportunities to earn money for education. Additionally, a high school diploma or GED is not required to participate in AmeriCorps, making it an excellent option for students that have dropped out of school. AmeriCorps works to meet the needs of each individual in terms of education and training, including those with low reading and math skills. For those already enrolled in a college/technical school, most award college credits for internship/co-op experience for their months of service.

House of Representatives Honorary Page Program
The Oregon House of Representatives is offering young Oregonians a chance to come to the state capitol in Salem to experience firsthand the legislative - or lawmaking - process.  This opportunity is better know as the Honorary Page Program.  
The program runs from February to June.  Students between the ages of 12 and 17 must apply for this unique program where they will spend a day engaged in a living history and civics lesson.  A typical day for a page starts at 9 a.m. and concludes by 3 p.m.

Trillium Creek Native Plant Work Party
Join the Clackamas River Basin Council to plant native trees and shrubs along Trillium Creek in Damascus. Trillium Creek feeds into Rock Creek, an important tributary to the Clackamas River, and provides critical habitat for many sensitive species of plants, fish and wildlife including anadromous species such as salmon. By creating a healthy riparian zone along Trillium Creek we can minimize sedimentation and reduce water temperatures to restore this habitat.

High Desert Youth Range Camp
High school students grades 9-12, will get a 4 day natural resources hands-on experience learning from experts in the sagebrush steppe ecosystem, everything from soils to plants to animal grazing, and so many things in between.  You will earn 2 college credits while there and it only costs $50!

Asian American Youth Leadership Conference
The 27th Annual Asian American Youth Leadership Conference will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the Sylvania Campus of Portland Community College.  The goal of the conference is to help our youth achieve their potentials by promoting education, fostering leadership development, cultivating self-confidence, providing resources, and encouraging civic engagement.  the year's theme is Be Real.

Saturday Academy 
Hands-on Learning!  Educational opportunities to all students in grades 2-12 throughout the Portland Metro Area.  In-depth, hands-on classes, camps and full-day workshops are taught by community experts dedicated to sharing their passion and inspiring curiosity.


TALON Program
The Audubon Society of Portland's TALON program provides paid training and employment for young adults ages 16-20 as they learn to teach, advocate, lead , observe and nurture - skills that will help them excel in conservation-related professions.

Tech Prep is a summer student development program for high school juniors who have their eye on a future in aerospace manufacturing.  The Boeing Company management and the International Associate of Machinists and Aerospace Workers are proud to be sponsors this program in the Portland, Oregon metro area.

ACE Mentor Program - If you're interested in architecture, construction or engineering this is your chance to explore these fields and receive mentoring from a professional in the field.  Applications are due November 16th!

The Mount St. Helens Institute is non-profit organization that advances stewardship and understanding of the Earth through science, education, and exploration. We work closely with our partners in the US Forest Service and US Geological Survey to create authentic learning experiences for all youth! Young Leaders Program

Young Leaders provides an educational portal for youth of all backgrounds to learn personal and professional leadership, civic awareness, and governance though a collegiate-level exploration of what it means for humanity to "self govern." A focus on economic reality and financial responsibility, the importance of law enforcement and its application in society, the legislative and judicial processes involved in government on a local, state, national, and global level are all key elements of the curriculum, as is a rigorous journalism and technology component within the camp that exposes the students to an in-depth exploration of the fourth estate.

Young Entrepreneurs Business Week 
Educating and inspiring the next generation of business leaders.  YEBW is a statewide initiative to educate Oregon youth in business, leadership, teamwork and more! 


Portland State Summer Business Institute
An on-campus experience for college-bound rising sophomores and juniors that identify as one or more of the following:  first generation, student of color, LGBTQ, Pell Grant eligible, undocumented student.

Students will meet with Portland business leaders, engage in college-level coursework, and participate in a community of peers from across the state.  

Bezos Scholars Program
What's Your Big Idea?
Ready to create positive change in your community?   The Bezos Scholars Program is a year-long leadership development program.  17 students are selected from across the U.S. to launch local change projects that align their unique passion with meeting a community need.  Successful applicants are high school juniors who demonstrate academic rigor, ambition, maturity, curiosity, and leadership.  Apply by February 8, 2019 at bezosscholars.org 

Providence School Outreach Program  
Providence School Outreach connects career seekers of all ages to health care careers through experiential learning. Our innovative and award winning program encourages career seekers to explore the many career opportunities that exist within health care. Not only does this help them make better-informed career decisions, but it often motivates and inspires them on their own career pathway.

For high school students, School Outreach events can demonstrate relevancy to classroom learning and may be used to meet Oregon high school graduation requirements. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to partner with teachers, counselors and schools to bring health career exploration to Oregon and SW Washington students.

Dental Exploring Program
OHSU’s Dental Exploring Program provides participants with a general perception of what a career in dentistry is all about. Monthly two-hour meetings are held at the dental school with an emphasis on "hands-on" activities. The first hour is composed of a lecture from dental school faculty from a variety of disciplines, while the second hour is a laboratory experience.
Dental students organize the monthly meetings and act as mentors.  Space is limited to sixty participants and is reserved on a first come, first serve basis. A complete application, consent forms and $40 fee must be on file to reserve a space.

Partnership for Scientific Inquiry
The Partnership for Scientific Inquiry (PSI) program is designed to allow Portland area high school students the opportunity to experience scientific research. High school sophomores and juniors are invited to apply. The program provides a dynamic learning environment to explore the scientific inquiry process and pairs students with OHSU faculty mentors. Students prepare a research proposal that describes work which could be done in the mentor's lab over the ensuing summer (students must be 16 to participate in summer research).

Please note this program meets during the second academic semester (Feb-June) and students may continue in the summer to conduct research with their mentor. High school credit can be obtained for participation in this challenging program.
​During the semester, PSI meets every Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on the OHSU waterfront campus. The program is rigorous with weekly homework as well as written and oral presentations. For more information, please visit our website PSI program or email us at psiprogram@ohsu.edu
Captain Kevin Kyle Mosley Private Pilot Scholarship
This is a scholarship that provides $2,500 to be applied towards fees or expenses to help obtain a private pilot license.

​Phillips Exeter Academy Summer School
The Summer School seeks students who are motivated to learn and prepared to contribute fully to classroom work and the community. ACCESS EXETER, a program of accelerated study in the arts and sciences, offers students entering grades eight and nine access to a wide range of resources available at Phillips Exeter Academy. Programs include: A greener Earth, The Land and the Sea, Problem-Solving: an Odyssey of the Mind, A Global Community, The Creative Arts: Let Your Spirit Soar, and Exeter C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation.
 
EMBRY-RIDDLE Spy Camp
Have you ever dreamed of being a spy? Does working undercover sound like a career you would like? This summer students can immerse themselves in the world of security and intelligence with this six-day, overnight camp program. This program is open to students ages 15-18. The tuition pays for all meals, lodging, instruction, materials and all activities.
Be sure to also check out HELICOPTER EXPLORATION CAMP open to ages 14-18. 
 
FIDM Summer Programs for High School Students
You've got to check out FIDM's 3 days of Fashion. It's 3 non-stop days of fashion, fun, and learning! Not only will you participate in hands-on workshops taught by renowned FIDM instructors, you'll mix and mingle with indurstry professionals, giving you the competitive edge you want. OTIS College of Art and Design - Summer of Art
An intensive four-week, pre-college program for students ages 15 and older who wish to experience what it is like to study at one of the top art and design colleges in the country. Serious young artists seeking to strengthen and enhance their art and design skills, as well as students with limited art training, are invited to participate.
 
Boston University Summer Term
This is a six-week residential program in which students take two Boston University undergraduate courses, earning up to eight transferable college credits. Students work in a lab conducting scientific research under the guidance of a mentor. Learn about more programs offered at their website.

Cornell University Summer College - Programs for High School Students
Three and six-week programs for talented high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Choose now from more than 20 programs and 60 Cornell courses offered between June 21 and August 5, 2014.Some of the program options include architecture, art and design, business, engineering, environmental studies, history and politics, hotel management, humanities, law and government, medicine, psychology, research and science, veterinary medicine, and animal science. Junior State of America Summer Program
High achieving students have the opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills, study with university professors and gain familiarity with the college living experience. Students from all around the country who share similar interests in current events and civic engagement learn together in these residential, academic programs. JSA Summer Programs help prepare students for future success at all levels - high school, college, and beyond. JSA Summer Schools are held on the campuses of Georgetown, Princeton, Stanford and the University of Virginia, and offer college-level classes ranging from AP U.S. Government to International Relations to Speech and Political Communication. New York University Pre-College Summer Programs
Earn college credit by taking courses with current NYU students; immerse yourself in college experience with a six-week program; develop writing skills through a free writing workshop that will help your writing stand out in class and on college essays, live in on-campus housing or commute from home while exploring NYU and New York City with other Pre-college students.
​FAFSA LAB
CCC offers a free drop-in FAFSA Lab open to students and the community to get hands-on help with the financial aid process. Current and future students, as well as members of the community, are all invited to get the answers they need to help pay for their education. Completing the FAFSA application is the first step in securing federal financial aid, including grants, work study and student loans. 
The lab is located on the first floor of Roger Rook on our Oregon City campus and is open Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
